Famous refugees

For its 60th anniversary commemorations, in 2012 Ofpra published a book on remarkable refugees, men and women protected by France under refugee or stateless person status who gave back to their host country as much as, if not more than, they received. This gallery builds on this publication, and presents a photograph along with biographical details on these refugees. It will gradually be updated with new entries.

We should  like to thank all refugees and their beneficiaries who have agreed to be written about on this website, as well as all those who have given us permission to use the photographs presented.
